40,000 permanent residents from the Philippines were welcomed by Canada in 2014

 

  • Since 2010, Canada has welcomed an average of more than 260,000 permanent residents each year

  • Philippines was the top source country of permanent residents to Canada in 2014

  • Over 700,000 Canadian residents can trace their ancestry back to the Philippines

 Canada will not allow the creation of a “permanent underclass” of foreign workers  

 

  • Prime Minister Stephen Harper annnounced that he will make sure that temporary foreign workers in Canada will have a pathway for permanent residence. He made the comments Friday during an appearance with Philippine President Benigno Aquino

  • Harper went on to say that his Conservative Government is  pro-  immigration

  •  In 2013, Philippines ranked third behind China and India in admitting 27,292permanent residents  to Canada

    New Permanet Residents Under Express Entry

 

  • Three months after the launch of Express Entry System the three first Express Entry Candidates were granted Permanent resident status

  • 6,851 Express Entry candidates have received an invitation to apply for permanent residence.

  • The first draw from the Express Entry pool, which Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) performed was  on January 31, 2015. Since that   date CIC did five more draws

Canada Ranked First Globally in Giving it's Citizens- Opportunity

 

  • Ranked First Globally in giving opporunity to it's citizens 

  • This was measured in the following categories: personal rights, tolerance for immigrants, homosexuals, discriminaion and violence against, religious tolerance, access to adavanced education,personal freedom and choice

  • The Social Progress Index, which is headed by Harvard Business School professor Michael Porter,  ranks 133 countries on a basket of 52 different indicators
